I am writing to recommend Mirta Dumancic’s teaching ability to you which I experienced
firsthand as a graduate student at McGill University.

I attended Mirta’s lectures on Nuclear
medicine focusing on fundamental ideas and complex topics in the field. She came to the
lectures prepared, and as a result, the classes followed an organized and interactive format that
was engaging and educating.

These lectures emphasized understanding the fundamental
principles by discussing and answering questions throughout the lecture. This structure ensured
that students actively thought about problems and concepts during class. As a result, classes
were both more interesting to the students and effective for those who participated.

Furthermore, her friendly character made it easy to ask questions during and after class. For
these reasons, my classmates and I looked forward to Mirta’s classes every week and I am
sincerely recommending her excellent teaching ability for future positions.

I had the privilege of working with Mirta in the context of the Research Fundamentals longitudinal course (18 months), core to the Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (MDCM) curriculum at McGill University.

This course entails a series of five journal club sessions which dive deep into themes in basic and translational research in biomedicine.

She was the postdoctoral fellow mentor for a group of 14 students that I was the representative of. On the behalf of the whole group, I whole-heartedly endorse her teaching skills. Journal club sessions with her were thoroughly engaging not only because she was generous with her wide knowledge in biomedical research, her passion for it was also contagious.

Despite all our sessions having to be virtual, Mirta fluently made use of technological tools such as live polls, videos, hyperlinks to complementary information, to optimize interactions. Her enthusiasm, thoroughness, and openness were greatly appreciated by our group.

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Mirta Dumančić during my PhD at McGill University,
and she was an exceptional mentor. Throughout her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Dumančić
demonstrated remarkable dedication to her research, leading an interdisciplinary project that
involved numerous collaborators. Many aspects of her work were novel, both to our research
group and the broader scientific community, requiring innovative problem-solving and
adaptability. She fostered a highly collaborative environment, strengthening existing
partnerships while actively cultivating new ones that significantly benefited our team.

Dr. Dumančić possesses an impressive depth of knowledge and an exceptional ability to either
provide answers or identify the right resources to guide others. Her passion for research extends
beyond her own work—she is deeply committed to supporting and mentoring those around her.
Whether working alongside me during intensive 24-hour experiments or making herself
available late at night to answer questions, she was always accessible and eager to help. She
excels at explaining complex concepts, ensuring clarity and understanding for diverse learning
styles.

Beyond her expertise, Dr. Dumančić is a highly effective leader, balancing individual research
excellence with the ability to foster leadership in others. She creates an environment that
encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and professional growth. Given her dedication,
intellectual rigor, and mentorship abilities, I am confident she will make a valuable contribution
as an Assistant Professor.
